"Kick-Ass 2" Greenlit. Strong DVD Sales Despite Weak Box Office Sales

MTV has the scoop on Kick-Ass sequel, Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall. In talking to the comic book creator, Mark Millar, MTV reports the sequel is greenlit. This is seriously awesome news.

The movie under-performed in theaters, and really, no one knows why. It could be comic book fatigue or it could be the excessive violence. Also, the comic book appealed to a much smaller audience than, say, Superman or Batman.

Nonetheless, the movie did great numbers on DVD and Blu-Ray, enough to motivate everyone involved to do a sequel.

Director of the first film, Matthew Vaughn, is off filming X-Men: First Class. Once that is wrapped up, it would be safe to bet he'd begin pre-production on the Kick-Ass sequel.

We'll let you know as the news is reported. The picture on the left is from the upcoming Balls to the Wall comic book! Can't wait to buy that as well.
