Photo of the NEW Judge Dredd, Karl Urban in Uniform

Here's the first picture of Karl Urban playing Judge Dredd in the upcoming, Dredd. We've been talking about this movie for awhile now. From when it was first announced, to the casting of Urban and the changing of the title to just simply Dredd. I've been pretty excited about this one for months now. I don't know why exactly. I wasn't that big into the comics, but loved the Stallone version from the 90's. There was something about that cheesy movie that I loved.

So based on nothing more than a still frame from a movie that wont be released for months, what do you think? Please share.

Daniel Day Lews Replacing Liam Neeson in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" Film

The title pretty much sums it up doesn't it? Like a bad trailer, I gave away the whole story. Well, let's re-hash, shall we? Steven Spielberg has been working on this Abraham Lincoln movie for about two years now. Liam Neeson was cast about a year ago to play the United States' 16th President. After months of delays, talks of canceling the project all together, and a bad script rumor, Neeson walked.

Fast forward a few months and the project picks up some steam. Apparently, the script was worked on and touched up. And now this, an AMAZING actor to play the role of an amazing man. Daniel Day Lewis is an AtD favorite. His work in There Will Be Blood was sheer genius. It was the kind of performance that was second to none. Probably the most obvious Oscar race in the last decade.

Day Lewis is a method actor and takes every role, very seriously. He only does a movie every few years because of the time and dedication he gives to every role. I've read online that he takes a few months after a movie shoot to come out of his character's role. Maybe a crazy Hollywood myth, or the workings of a brilliant actor. Either way, we LOVE this casting. See you at the Oscar podium in a year or so Mr. Lewis.

Guillermo Del Toro Helping to Bring "The Hulk" Back to TV

Guillermo Del Toro is a visionary director with an amazing ability to write and design as well. My friend Joey and I watched Pan's Labyrinth recently and were blown away by the Blu-Ray special features. Del Toro's ability to break down a story, design it, direct it and shoot it is unbelievable. He makes it sound almost too easy. So can Del Toro do to The Hulk what he did to Hellboy?

That's right, Del Toro is helping to write and design a new live-action TV show for ABC Family, starring everyone's favorite green monster. I personally don't care for the character as much as others do. But I love Del Toro's work and would be interested in seeing his designs. Coming next year, we'll talk about it now, to then.

Coen Brothers Film "True Grit" Gets Posterized with a Trailer

FattMatt and I are huge fans of Joel & Ethan Coen. The men are brilliant in every sense of the word. Their ability of storytelling has been recognized time and time again, culminating with an Oscar win for No Country for Old Men a few years ago. True Grit is their latest, an adaptation of a novel by the same name. The brothers wrote and directed the film set to be released December 22nd. It stars last year's Oscar winner for Best Actor, Jeff Bridges. Also stars 2-time Oscar Nominee, Matt Damon. And returning to work with the Coen brothers, Josh Brolin, also an Oscar Nominee. Bridges also worked with the 'Brothers' on The Big Lebowski.

The movie also stars Barry Pepper (very underrated actor) and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld. It tells the story of a U.S. Marshal (Bridges) tracking down the man who murdered Steinfeld's father. The murderer is played by Brolin. Bridges and Steinfeld are accompanied by Matt Damon who plays a Texas Ranger. It follows the three on their quest for 'retribution'. Denis Leary Negotiating Small Role in "Spider-Man" Reboot

I love Denis Leary, the man is hilarious in his own unique way and doesn't apologize to anyone for it either. Check out Suicide Kings for a look at how funny Leary is. Ok maybe that one isn't as popular as the Ice Age crap he's been doing, or his hit TV show "Rescue Me"; but Leary is still welcome on the big screen anytime in my book.

/slashfilm is reporting via THR that Leary is negotiating to play Emma Stone's father in the Spider-Man reboot directed by Marc Webb. Emma Stone plays Gwen Stacy. Her character has already been portrayed by Dallas Bryce Howard in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. Leary may or may not have a big part, but I say 'welcome buddy, it's been too long'.

By the way, the only reason I used this pic is because... you guessed it, I love cigars!

"Cowboys & Aliens" Poster and World Premier Trailer

There are certain guys just about everybody loves in Hollywood. And this movie contains three of them. Director Jon Favreau can do no wrong in the public's eyes (we'll ignore Iron Man 2 for the moment). Then there is the new (and improved) James Bond, Daniel Craig. Last but not least, everyone's favorite action hero, Indiana Jones/Han Solo... Harrison Ford. The three teamed up for a comic book adaptation; we knew it would only be a matter of time, Cowboys & Aliens. I mean, come on, this movie is as obvious a summer hit as Monsters vs. Aliens was an animation dream. Click the jump to see the world premier trailer and read my thoughts.

A bit Tombstone, a bit Independence Day. The trailer really don't do much for me. I do like the visual style that Favreau has created out of dust and dirt. But the trailer to Green Lantern got me excited, I was clapping at the end of it. This one seemed a like a bit of a let down. Is it just me, or does Harrison Ford sound like a bitter old man? Oh well, maybe that's what his character is supposed to be. Then there's Daniel Craig who doesn't say much of anything in the trailer, but dude looks pissed! That was awesome. The beautiful Olivia Wilde is in the film and looks great.

The movie is produced by the super-duo Brian Grazer and Ron Howard. It's executive produced by Steven Spielberg. It will most definitely make money and be a huge summer hit. I'm just curious what the aliens look like, if there's any interaction with the cowboys, Daniel Craig's characters background, etc. Stay tuned for more; if there's another trailer, I'll try to put it up.

"Your Highness" Red Band Trailer

I love Danny McBride, I mean I really really love Danny McBride. I've been watching his work for a few years and I honestly think he's one of the most underrated comedy actors in Hollywood. The man really can do it all. Check out Up in the Air as well as Due Date if you don't believe me. Those are just co-starring roles; check out Eastbound and Down to see the man really shine!

The trailer below is for Your Highness; it stars McBride, James Franco, Zooey Deschanel and the gorgeous Natalie Portman. I kind of want you all to see the trailer and tell me what you think. Check after the jump for my comments.

"Green Lantern" World Premier Trailer!

The footage gives away the basic plot, but leaves much to the imagination. Blake Lively's pretty face is thrown in the mix and we get to see Mark Strong and Peter Sarsgaard as well. It has a unique style, similar to Iron Man if I had to choose one to compare it to. I doubt this will be "dark" as other comic book adaptations have been. And it shouldn't be. The Green Lantern character has dark days, but overall, Hal Jordan (human name) is a fun loving jokester. Ryan Reynolds will do well, deeeeeep down inside I'm still curious what Bradley Cooper would have looked like donning the cgi suit. Overall, the trailer did for me what its supposed to do, get me to want to watch the movie. You?

Darren Aronofsky's "Wolverine" Sequel Now Has a Title

So, yes, it has been confirmed that Darren Aronofsky will re-team with Hugh Jackman for the Wolverine sequel. We already know the director and lead actor, as well as the plot. It will follow the Frank Miller, Japan Saga. Where Logan (aka Wolverine) falls in love with a married woman, the wife of a samurai. Logan must battle the villagers in hopes of ending up with the woman he loves.

The title has been revealed by Aronofsky himself. The movie will be called; The Wolverine. Back to basics, I like it! I never really liked the whole "X-Men Origins" part of the title anyway. It doesn't make sense to even use that if 'Wolverine' was going to be the only entry in the franchise; now that X-Men Origins: Magneto has been canceled. Aronofsky has an interesting visual style as well as the ability to tell a love story. He will do well and I will see this movie. That is all.

"Batman 3" Officially Named, To Be Shot Entirely in IMAX?

Who's read this blog before? Who knows how die-hard we are about The Dark Knight? All of you should have your arms up. Tonedog and FattMatt saw Batman Begins together, and were hooked. We called Heath Ledger's Oscar the day of watching The Dark Knight, and now the third film in the Christopher Nolan trilogy has been revealed. The Dark Knight Rises.

Remember the 6 action sequences shot in IMAX on The Dark Knight? Collider is reporting that Nolan was so impressed with what was filmed, he is filming The Dark Knight Rises entirely in IMAX. Whoa! No one knows who the villains will be, but there is plenty of talk about it. Most people are leaning towards Talia al Ghul, daughter of Ra's al Ghul. People are guessing she will be after Batman to avenger her father's death. She and Batman have a storied past in the DC Universe and she would be a nice change from all the other villains we've seen on screen.

No matter the villain, It will surely be a fitting end to a trilogy that will define the character for generations to come. Much like Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve to Superman; Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale have changed the perception of a character in Batman.

Picture above brought to you by "Worst Part's Almost Over" on the discussion boards at AICN.

"Battle: Los Angeles" Trailer, Wowzers

We first heard about Jonathan Liebesman‘s Battle: Los Angeles at Comic-Con back in July. The movie is about an alien invasion, where else? Los Angeles. I can pretty much end the synopsis there, but I will tell you this; I WILL be seeing this movie.

The FX look incredible and that's about the only thing that is going to impress with this type of movie. Not necessarily the story line or character development, but rather the FX. Click the jump for the teaser trailer and please tell us what you think:

"Red Riding Hood" Trailer Gothic to Say the Least

We've covered Red Riding Hood quite a bit here on AtD. Since Leonardo DiCaprio's production company announced it, to Catherine Hardwicke directing, to Amanda Seyfried and Gary Oldman being cast to this: the first trailer. Click the jump to check out the trailer below and read some of my notes.

Disney Pixar's "Cars 2" Trailer, International Style

Damn it's good to be back. Tonedog got a job, FattMatt works and goes to school and neither one of us has been able to update this blog as often as we'd like. So let's start today. And it's a doozy. I think that's how you spell it.

The original Cars is actually my least favorite of the Pixar bunch. When I heard it was receiving the sequel treatment over a classic like The Incredibles, I was a bit shocked. But regardless, the news came out that it was going to be sequelized. Below is the first teaser trailer to Cars 2. Enjoy everyone, and thanks for reading the blog.

"Red State" Poster

Well, here you have it, folks. The first poster for Kevin Smith's new film Red State is out, and it's freaky good.

Here's a little description of it by Smith himself:
"Moody, weird, and pitch-perfect for the tone of the film. If I went out to an ad agency here in town, I’d be billed close to 20 grand for a campaign that’d maybe… maybe… include this poster. But this piece of artwork (I call it “The Holy Ghost”) didn’t come from a top-tier ad agency: Jon Gordon is my RED STATE producer, and this poster was created by his assistant, Melissa Bloom. So we’ve got a marketing image that was put together by someone who was on set every day, integral to the process that produced the film which inspired this image… The marketer is actually family, RED from pre-production all the way through wrap, so she’s got an insight into the flick that no ad agency could ever boast (not even one-time Glo-Coat golden boy Don Draper over at SCDP). I’ll take passion over pedigree any day…So Melissa (with a Gretzky-like assist by Ming), the person on the RED STATE crew least likely to spearhead our marketing campaign, gets the collar for this arresting image – and I fucking dig that."

Smith has been working hard on this film, and he seems to be really passionate about it. His enthusiasm is exciting for me. I hope it'll be good.

"Blitz" Trailer

The new Jason Statham film Blitz, from Lionsgate, has an international trailer out.
Nathan Parker (Moon) penned the script based on the novel Blitz by Ken Bruen.

Here's a little info:
"They’re after a cop killer called Blitz who uses a hammer to perpetrate his misdeeds as he attempts to kill officers all over the city. The characters inhabit a dirty, violent London and have their share of regrets; as the story opens Statham’s character Brant is dealing with the repurcussions from his assault on a precinct psychologist."

The film also stars Aidan Gillen, David Morrissey, Luke Evans and Richard Riddell.
