It's been a wild ride for this movie, and it hasn't even been released. Back in October of 2009, the studio behind the Bond films, MGM, was in serious trouble. Close to closing its doors due to a lack of financing, the latest Bond film was delayed. After new financing was secured, it appeared the movie might be scrapped altogether. Rest assured, the movie is a go, titled, Skyfall. It's got some serious talent to boot.
The film is directed by Academy Award winner, Sam Mendes (American Beauty). Daniel Craig returns to the lead role for a third time. Javier Bardem has been cast as the villain. Judi Dench returns (perhaps for the last time), as the character, M. And there are two women who have the privilege of calling themselves Bond girls, Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris. That's the talent, here's the trailer. Look for my comments below.
This is a very effective trailer in my opinion. It teases at a scheme to take out M, and shows Bond will do whatever it takes to stop it. I think there is a silhouette of Javier Bardem, but nothing more of our villain. It's going to be fast paced, and will visit multiple countries, as most of the Bond films do. With Mendes behind the camera, we're in for a thriller grounded in reality, much like Casino Royale. Quantum of Solace was a fun ride as well, but let's hope that Skyfall lives up to the hype. So, what do you think?
