Christoph Waltz and Emma Stone joining Alexander Skarsgard in David Yates' Tarzan?

It's amazing what a few Hollywood flops can do to big budget films in the pipeline.  It's been a few years since a live-action Tarzan film was announced by Warner Brothers.  A few months ago, after seeing the budget for The Lone Ranger fly off the handle, the studio pumped the brakes on the project.

Well, now the film is back on track.  David Yates of Harry Potter fame was brought in to direct Alexander Skarsgard in the lead.  So today some interesting news about a few possible supporting actors was reported.

Variety reports that 2-time Academy Award Winner, Christoph Waltz could play the primary villain.  Of course he is!  Because he's amazing in everything he does.  Waltz really has the range to do anything he wants.  This is a man that had an Oscar when he decided to do The Green Hornet for God's sake.

The other name making waves for the role of Jane, is Emma Stone.  I think it's safe to declare Stone an A-list actress at this point in her career.  She's been in many successful films and her star power just continues to grow.  I'm a big fan and have an admitted crush on her :)  There are rumors she's close to signing; and just as any 'news' on the internet goes, there are now rumors she won't do it.  Whatever, I'd love to see her in the film!  The other name Warner Brothers has whispered is that of Margot Robbie.  We'll see about that Ms. Robbie!

I think Waltz is a fantastic choice, as is Stone.  The world Yates is building around his main actor is starting to come together.  We'll see what ends up happening in the next few weeks.  I'm interested in seeing a 'serious' take on a the tale of Tarzan.  The only material I remember is the Disney film and believe it or not, the Christopher Lambert version: Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes.  Yates is an amazing storyteller and I have all the confidence in the world in him and his talents.  I'll keep everyone posted.
