Quickie: The Last of Us video game being adapted into a live-action film

Always hook people with a bold statement... so here it goes... The Last of Us is the best Playstation video game ever made.  How's that for a hook?  For anyone who is not a 'gamer', The Last of Us is a video game released last year, exclusively for the Playstation 3.  The game has gone on to sell millions of copies, win every Game of the Year award the genre has to offer, and is now being adapted into a live-action film.

For those unfamiliar with the game, it tells the story of a Joel, a middle aged man doing whatever he can to survive in a post-apocalyptic world; and Ellie, a young girl with a secret.  Joel is forced to escort Ellie across the country for reasons that are unclear at the time they meet.  The power of video games isn't just in the game play, it's in the rich storytelling.  The game beautifully tells this story, and we dive deep into the backgrounds of the two main characters.  Since playing the game, I knew it was inevitably going to be made into a film, I just didn't think it was going to happen this quickly.

The game was developed by the Sony owned studio, Naughty Dog, who are making the best games in the business right now.  The movie will be distributed by Screen Gems, and there's word yet on a release date.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For trailer premier

It's been a long time since we knew Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was green lit.  But now, finally, we have the first trailer!  Check it out below and my thoughts after.

Well?  Feels the same as the original doesn't it?  And that's not a bad thing at all!  I love the visuals, we shouldn't have expected any different from Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller.  The tone is still dark and pulls you in with a sort of hypnotism.  There's definitely a sex appeal to seeing Jessica Alba strippin' it up; but there's a lot more to these stories.  I also love the return of Mickey Rourke.  He did such a great job with the first film; it's too bad he was unrecognizable, and didn't receive the attention he should have for his performance.  I like all the new comers: Brolin, Gordon-Levitt and Green to name a few.  I've been looking forward to it for a long time.  Can't wait till August!
