Quickie: Paul Feig might direct an all female cast in Ghostbusters 3
Paul Feig, director of Bridesmaids and The Heat, is rumored to be taking over the Ghostbusters franchise. Rumors have been flying around about a part 3 to the hit franchise for almost a decade. A few years ago it looked like there was a script in place and the movie was on the fasttrack. There were a few hiccups that ultimately postponed the film. Then came the untimely death of Harold Ramis, one of the writers and stars of the first two films. A threequel may have worked still, considering there were rumors that the original characters children would be taking up the mantel. Today, Variety reported that Feig, while not officially signed on, is in talks to direct. And, that it would be an all female cast, Feig's specialty. No other news regarding the remaining original cast was reported.
I am all for this news, if it turns out to be true. I love Feig's films and watch them constantly. I've seen several interviews with Feig where he explains why he enjoys working with female comedians so much; and you can tell he knows how to spotlight actresses better than others. The talent is there, but it takes a director like Feig to highlight comedic actresses. I'm all in for this, and hope it's solidified in the next few weeks.
