You know what's a good movie?

Dunkirk Video Review; A Marvel Achievement in Storytelling

Christopher Nolan is easily my favorite director in Hollywood right now.  And Dunkirk is one of his best films yet.  It's a marvel achievement in storytelling, and has instantly raised the bar in what a big budget war film should be.  Trust me, you will not be disappointed in this film.  Nolan has created a film that will make you think, as he does not spoon feed the audience anything.  Check out my video review for Dunkirk, then go out and see it for yourself.  Let me know what you thought if you've already seen it.

War for the Planet of the Apes Video Review; Quietly the Best Trilogy in Years

I never cared for the Planet of the Apes franchise until the 2011 reboot, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. 6 years, and 2 films later, this has become one of my favorite trilogies in history. Andy Serkis gives, yet another, riveting performance as the leader of the Apes, Caesar. The film is terrific, and I highly recommend it. Check out my review for War for the Planet of the Apes. Thanks!

Spider-Man Homecoming Video Review; This is the Spider-Man We Wanted

This is the third incarnation of Spider-Man on the big screen, and they nailed it! There's too many things I liked to list here. For that you'll just have to watch the video. But what I will tell you is, the filmmakers captured the essence of the character in ways neither of the previous franchises could. Check out my video review of Spider-Man Homecoming.

The House Video Review; Place Your Bets Elsewhere

Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler.  Are you kidding me?  Sprinkle in some Jason Mantzoukas and you should have comedy gold right?  I don't know.  You'll have to watch the video below to find out.  If the title of this post didn't give it away that is.

Video: Breathe Trailer Reaction and Discussion

I have to admit, this is the first Trailer Reaction video where I get visibly emotional.  The trailer for Breathe is brilliant.  Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy appear to be perfectly cast in this fascinating story.  The film is directed by legendary actor, Andy Serkis.  You may know Serkis as the motion capture actor, made famous by his performances as Gollam and Caeser from the Lord of the Rings and Planet of the Apes franchises.  Check out the video below and let me know what you think!

Video: The Greatest Showman Trailer Reaction and Discussion

Now, this?  This looks amazing!  Hugh Jackman plays P.T. Barnum, the creator of one of the most popular circus' on the planet.  See how he was able to escape the mundane nature of a 9-5 job, and do so much more with his life.  This trailer is incredible, believe me.  Check out my reaction below, as well as the discussion about it.

Video: A Bad Moms Christmas Red Band Trailer Reaction

Did you see the first Bad Moms?  And are you looking forward to the sequel?  This time around it's centered around Christmas time.  And we all know how stressful it can be that time of year.  While I see some funny moments in the trailer, I'm not that excited.  How about you?

Video: Pitch Perfect 3 Trailer Reaction and Discussion

Video: You Know What's A Good Movie? The Count of Monte Cristo

The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite films.  Based on the novel by Alexander Dumas, it tells the story of a man wrongfully imprisoned, and how he seeks revenge on those who've wronged him.  A fascinating story, with incredible performances by the likes of Jim Caviezel and Guy Pearce.  There's so much to tell you about, click the video below to find out more, and just how the movie relates to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Video: Daniel Day-Lewis Retiring From Acting, and Our Favorite Performances

What to make of the news, that an acting legend is retiring?  Well, savor the work he's put out.  Daniel Day-Lewis announced, again, that he is retiring from acting.  Whether he is to be believed is a whole another conversation.  But for now, we should reflect on his body of work and appreciate what he did for cinema.

Daddy's Home 2 Trailer Reaction

I loved the first Daddy's Home film. And this week we got to see the first trailer for the sequel.  Check out my trailer reaction to the trailer, and some thoughts on the original.  I'm not saying the first film is perfect, but it's just the right amount of funny to pop it in after a long day at work.  Do you agree?

Video: You Know What's A Good Movie? Mrs. Doubtfire

I'm so happy to bring you another video edition of You Know What's A Good Movie?  The series where we review movies connected to each other in some way.  Maybe a director, an actor, etc.  Last time we took a look at Good Will Hunting.  And this time around, Mrs. Doubtfire.

The connection is the brilliant Robin Williams.  Check out the video below and be sure to subscribe to the YouTube channel as well!  Thanks for watching, everyone!

Wonder Woman Video Review; A Film Worthy of its Praise

Finally!  Finally, one of the greatest superhero characters in comics, is the star of her own movie.  Gal Gadot and Chris Pine star in Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman.

Check out my video review of the film.  Spoiler alert... I really really enjoyed the film.

I also want to add that this movie is having a cultural impact in the best way.  Little girls need a hero like Wonder Woman, amid all the male superheros they look up to.  When I went to see Wonder Woman, besides loving the movie... I loved seeing little kids enjoying it. I had a little boy a few seats down from me who was just as excited seeing Wonder Woman, as he would have been seeing Batman. And a little girl sitting right behind me told her dad, "I want to be like her".

Awesome.  Just awesome.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer Reaction and Discussion Video

So I must admit, I wrote off the first Kingsman film, when it was released in theaters.  I'm not sure why either.  I think I viewed it as just another flashy new spy adaptation or something.  Nonetheless, I saw it on Blu Ray after it got rave reviews from fans and critics alike.  And it shouldn't have come as a surprise either.  Director Matthew Vaughn is so good at what he does, he should have been reason enough to watch the movie.

Fast forward a few years and the trailer for the sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle has been released.  Check out the reaction, and discussion video below.  Don't forget to subscribe to the channel too!  Thanks for watching, everyone!

Justice League Trailer and Reaction Video

The Justice League trailer is finally here!  Not a teaser, not Comic Con footage, but a real, full length trailer!  The movie is of course directed by Zack Snyder and stars a slew of Hollywood A-listers.  You'll have an opportunity to see the trailer down below.  But first, check out my initial reaction to it.

My initial thought is that DC and Warner Brothers have learned from their mistakes and lightened up the tone... significantly.  Thank GOD!  Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad were critically panned and fans of the genre were left disappointed.

I like how all the heroes get ample screen time.  That's going to be critical in this film.  This point was something that I loved about the 2012 blockbuster hit, The Avengers.

And speaking of the Avengers, it's going to be difficult to watch this movie WITHOUT comparing it to its Marvel counterpart.  Watching this trailer, and seeing the swarms of Parademons descend on our heroes, was very much reminiscent of the Chitauri in the Avengers.

And can we talk about Aquaman for a second?  I firmly believe he is going to be the breakout character of this film.  They gave him a sense of humor and a general sense of bad ass, we haven't seen before with this character.

And lastly are all the iconic moments in the trailer.  Wonder Woman dropping down to lead Aquaman and Cybord.  The Flash using his speed to beat up bad guys.  Commissioner Gordon working with the Justice League.  Or how about Aquaman riding ontop of the freaking Batmobile, with Batman driving him into a set of Parademons!?

Be sure to leave us a comment and subscribe to the YouTube channel so we can chat about the trailer!  What did you think of the trailer?  You as excited as I am for this new Justice League film?

Kong: Skull Island video review

I loved Kong: Skull Island!  It's a ton of fun.  Very little character development, and story telling; but it's entertaining enough to overcome all of that!

Beauty and the Beast video review

Another year, and another Disney remake has landed.  This time?  Beauty and the Beast.  This is an almost direct adaptation to the 1991 animated film, that was the first ever to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.  Do you think the movie was worth remaking?  Did it live up to its predecessor?

Rather than just tell you about it on this blog post, check it out in the video below.  Let us know what you thought of the film.  And thanks for watching, everyone!

Logan video review

Welcome back to the AtD Movie Blog!  Well, it's no surprise that this weekend, one of the most anticipated films of the year is being released.  Logan.  This is Hugh Jackman's final film of the X-Men franchise's spin-off; the legendary character of Logan/Wolverine.  The film is directed by James Mangold, who also directed the previously released, The Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman gives an incredible performance, in easily one of the best superhero films ever made. Logan is different, and in so many great ways.  The production design is perfect, and takes us to a dark and dirty future.  The performance by Patrick Stewart, Professor X, is remarkable.  And don't forget about little Dafne Keen.  She is the little girl featured in all the trailers leading up to the release of the film.

Rather than just tell you about it on this blog post, check it out in the video below.  Let us know what you thought of the film.  And thanks for watching, everyone!

Video: You Know What's A Good Movie? Batman (1989)

Video: You Know What's A Good Movie? The Incredibles

Hello again everyone!

A few months ago I reinvigorated the "You Know What's A Good Movie?" series.  It started with Forrest Gump, and went into Toy Story.  Their connection is obvious to most, as both films star Tom Hanks.  Today's pick?  The Incredibles!

The Incredibles and Toy Story have Pixar in common, and are still regarded as two of the best films in animated film history.  Check out our video review and try and guess where the series will go next.  Remember, it doesn't have to just be an actor or studio; it could be something as simple as a common theme.

Enjoy the video and don't forget to subscribe to the channel.  Thanks for watching!

Video: You Know What's A Good Movie? Toy Story

Hey there ladies and gents.  A few years ago I started a series of posts called, "You Know What's A Good Movie?".  And basically it's a six degrees of Kevin Bacon type of thing.

The first video review in this chain was Forrest Gump.  Our second film review is for Toy Story.  And the connection is easy... Tom Hanks.  Not only did he star in Forrest Gump, but he also voiced the character of Woody in Toy Story.

Toy Story changed the game in Hollywood.  It was the first ever, full-length feature that was completely computer animated.  It created an entirely new category in cinema, and has been loved by millions of fans since its release in 1995.  Check out the video below, and be sure to subscribe to the YouTube channel to ensure you see future posts.
